Shall I start with the biggest news of the week?
Just kidding, saw that one coming. Kraft seriously wants to rehire him so he can retire as a Patriot...that...I didn't see coming.
It's been Catholic Schools Week and the kids have been dressing up (or down) each day depending on the theme. The highschool had a Dress As Your Favorite Teacher Day and Maggie (and her cousin) chose to dress as the Campus Minister, who is also their Varsity Volleyball Coach.
Too bad the photo cut off their shoes because they are all wearing Crocs, her signature style!
The elementary school had a Crazy Hair and Socks Day and the three little boys had some fun, with help from Dad and Maggie:
I channelled Beth and ordered myself a window bird feeder. Hey, it's my birthday month, treat yo'self!
Phil set it up and then it promptly crashed to the ground. He set it up more securely the second time and it's still hanging! No birds yet. Well, we're not home during the daytime during the week, so maybe there have been birds? I'll be on the lookout all weekend.
Brendan's instructional basketball league is done. Woohoo! One down, three to go...
The Standard Times (our Southcoast Massachusetts newspaper) came out with the top athletes for soccer this week, and we were so happy to see that Andrew is a Standard Times All Star!
I really liked the message in Simcha's article, inspired by Marie Kondo admitting that:
“Up until now, I was a professional tidier, so I did my best to keep my home tidy at all times. I have kind of given up on that in a good way for me. Now I realize what is important to me is enjoying spending time with my children at home."
I changed my hot pink laces out for black ones in my running sneakers and now I am kinda regretting it. They just seemed too bold with the pink laces but the black laces now seem too boring. I'm the Goldilocks of shoelaces over here!
I've been on a peanut butter kick recently. I baked these Peanut Butter Cheesecake Brownies for a friend's birthday and he loved them. My afternoon snack all week has been vanilla greek yogurt with Kashi Peanut Butter Crunch cereal on top. I literally dream about eating it all day. Does that sound sad or normal?
And finally, my last little First Grader had to make his Valentine's Day mailbox for school. We made Bluey and he was a very happy boy indeed! Don't ask me for a tutorial. It was a lot of sweating and duct tape and trial and error. Brendan was sooooo encouraging of me the whole time - "Mom you are such a good artist! Oh my gosh that looks so good!" etc. It's easy to slave over a project when the kid is so appreciative :)
The treats and cards will go in Bluey's mouth, but we cut a bigger slit on the top in case there were larger items. |
Brendan posed like that himself, so cute. |
My love of peanut butter knows no bounds, and yogurt and granola are two of my favourite things ever (I may have had two bowls as a snack last night), so dreaming about that combo all day seems VERY normal to me! Also, those PB squares sound incredible. I love cream cheese...and chocolate...and peanut butter.
ReplyDeleteI still have no idea who Bluey is, but I feel like the rest of the world does. Even without the proper context, I can tell you knocked this Valentine's holder out. of. the. park! Wow! My kids use an old Kleenex box (or a paper bag)!
It's one of the big first grade projects, otherwise my kids also use paper bags :)
DeleteIt can take up to a month for birds to find a new bird feeder, so don't give up if it takes a while. That Bluey valentine box is AMAZING!!!!
ReplyDeleteOk, no bites yet so that makes me feel better
DeleteAwesome Bluey! Duct tape is a great material choice - but it'll last forever. We still have a "broggy" valentine's day box that's about 15 years old. I can't bring myself to throw it away!
ReplyDeleteMy husband is great at throwing everything away :)
DeleteI eat a yogurt every afternoon and I also look forward to it all day so I would say totally normal :)! (I didn't know they made peanut butter kashi, I can't wait to try it!)
ReplyDeleteWow, that Bluey mailbox is SO cute! And I love all the kids' hair for crazy hair day. So fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm also unfamiliar with Bluey - but I'm pretty sure you nailed it. Super cool Valentine's Box. The hair transformation is so impressive. I love that Maggie and her cousin dressed up as their coach. Love it. I'm always happy when I realize that I have yet to eat my Greek yogurt. My fav is cherry. I completely understand your obsession.
ReplyDeleteThere is just no excuse why you don't know Bluey, you run a daycare!! Haha :)
DeleteIt might take the birds a few weeks to find the feeder but don't worry, they will! I also sprinkled seed around the feeder the first couple of weeks to entice them. I have no idea if that worked or not but I felt better about it. Also, the birds that we have prefer sunflower seeds. I notice that you have the tiny food....I got a bag of that at the beginning of my crazy bird lady journey but the birds always leave that until last and many seem to ignore it. The birds are usually there in the morning around 7:45 or so. Then they are back around 2:00 and then again before the sun sets. It has been so exciting watching them discover the feeder and come to it daily. I hope you see some birds this weekend!
ReplyDeleteI will need to try the sunflower seeds because no birds yet!
DeleteGoldilocks Shoelaces! LOL
ReplyDeleteLove the boy's fun hair. I remember when my girls had those 'dress up' days at school; such a good time to break up the monotony of school days.
Congratulations to Andrew!!
I wonder about the feeder by the window; is it dangerous for the birdies? Must not be if they sell them.
