If a Tree Falls in the Forest...

...and nobody is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

I never really *got* that philosophical pondering.

But then yesterday, I pushed myself through a long run, and I wondered:

If I run ten miles, but don't tell anybody about it, does it really count?

And I think the answer is "Nope!"

Because we runners are very braggy like that.  It's a motivational thing :)

  1. That's awesome!

Maybe one of these days I can get this old body to go that far. My mind says "yes" but my knees say "no"!

  3. That's why people who wear race t-shirts from races they didn't finish give me pause.

Shoot, I won't even put the darn thing ON until I'm showered from finishing it.

  4. Some of it is just being in awe of the fact that you did it . . not necessarily bragging! And even if it is, I say brag on! Way to go!

  6. Right on Katie....every time I finish a run, especially the long ones...I'm like hey, I really did that! I have to tell somebody too.

Plus, like today....I think about the food I get to eat since I ran! Even 3 miles bumped up my calorie allowance.

  7. Well, I think we'd all be disappointed if you didn't say something.
    I know if I ran 10 miles in a day, I'd be telling ;)
    Way to go!!
