On Monday, we took the animals kids to the National Zoo in Washington D.C. We saw the pandas:
The apes:
The monkeys. Ha!:
A smooshy octopus:
Disgusting spiders...
...which some of us enjoyed more than others:
I made the kids pose and pretend to be happy when in reality they were turning into hot, cranky, messes of human beings (it was 85 degrees):
Of course, what would a trip to the zoo be without a dinosaur head?
Flashback to four years ago here.
Eamon compares his paw and tongue to those of a tiger:
And the others try to stay hydrated and happy:
Phil and I joke that Xander is going to speak Portuguese because his nanny speaks it fluently to the little girl she cares for. We always say his first words are going to be "Bom Dia!" (said in a very low and loud voice) which means Good Day! so we just had to take a picture of this:
The resemblance is uncanny, no?
There were also fishes and scary snakes to be seen:
Me and the monsters:
This beetle was made up of beetles. Gross. Yet intriguing...
And after the reptile exhibit, we literally walked a mile uphill to get out of the zoo. The kids almost didn't make it. We rewarded them with some frozen yogurt and all was right again.
LOVE the National Zoo...but it is always a good idea to get there first thing in the morning : )
ReplyDeleteLoks you had a great day anyway!
I have been there many times and I must go at the wrong times/months since I never see any animals lol. All I see is stink usually. Although April is probably a really good time to go I would imagine.
