Year in Review

I used dailymile to track my workouts since last January, and was surprised to see that they sent me a report for the year.  It is so cool to see all of that hard work added up in one place.  I recommend joining this site to log your own workouts, and I'd love to know if you do so that we can be "friends".

  1. Girrl- this makes me tired :) The husband and I are REALLY trying to do the healthy living thing, which has included me signing up for a 5k. I have like, never ran in my life. I have been going to the gym at least five times a week (which, btw, how the heck, with five kids, do you find time to do that). Anyway, due to the 5k *which isn't for another 8 months, I decided I would run yesterday. I ran .1 mile and thought I was going to die :) The plan is to increase the 1/10 of a mile each week, until I am a fancy runner who can run 3 miles...thank God I have 7 months :)

    1. You go Mary! What you're doing is great, small steps to up the running distance. I would even just try walking the 5k distance first and slowly start changing some of that walking to running each time. Running is hard to start - the body and lungs have lots of adjusting to do, but I promise it gets easier and even addicting.

As for fitting in the workouts, we have a good system going where 3 days during the week, Phil heads to the gym from 3-4 and I meet him there at 4 after having picked up the baby from the nanny. Then he takes the baby from me and picks up the other kids at school (they stay a little later but get their homework done!) and I workout from 4-5 and we're all home by 5:15. On the weekend, we all go together in the mornings and the kdis play in the childcare room (mostly just watch Nickelodeon/Disney because we don't have that at home) while Phil and I workout for an hour.

Aren't you glad you asked? :)

    2. Mary-
EVERYONE feels like they will die when they first start running. The first time I began exercising and running again after #3 (he was a year old), it was hard. My first 3 mile run . . . I came home and lost the contents of my stomach. So, we all start there.

You are doing awesome MARY!! You will rock the 5K!

    1. Evita, I don't feel like I am overly gifted with motivation, I just know that I NEED to workout to feel good mentally. I sleep better, think better, feel better, breathe easier and am less moody. I guess you could say I'm addicted to the "high" that exercise brings!

  3. That is awesome!
Fun fact: Your running only miles covers more than the distance from Portland, Maine to Washington, DC.

  5. My 2012 year in review was pathetic . . . I was averageing over 100 miles a month until I hit May . . . and then I was lucky that I logged some mileage each month.

    Way to go Collee!

    1. Walking is better for your joints! I just need that exhausted sweaty feeling that comes with a hard workout :)

  8. Awesome! I was hoping to run 1000 in 2013 but not by the looks of it this year. Just getting back on board will be good.

I am Christian jealous of your accomplishment! Way to go!
