Today is Day 5 on the Trim Healthy Mama plan. Phil is doing it with me because misery loves company and I could not sit there munching on flax seed wasa crackers and spreadable lite cheese while he was eating potato chips and french onion dip. That would not go over well at all.
Of course on the 3rd morning of the plan, Phil had already dropped a solid 5 pounds while I had only lost 3. Men!! Amiright?? But, that third day was the hardest (so far) and I feel like we are finding a groove and getting to understand what we can and can't eat.

Last night, during the big boys' soccer practice, I went for a run around the soccer fields and surrounding neighborhood. I was feeling so good, the weather was beautiful, the non-child-friendly music was pumping, and it was one of those runs where you feel like you could go forever.
Forever apparently meant 7 miles, but I haven't run over 6 miles in sooooo long, like maybe before I was pregnant with Declan over 2 years ago. I remembered how much I love running when all the conditions are right, it's truly my Happy Hour. I think my mojo is back, turns out it wasn't me that was the problem, it was the weather :)

This weekend should be fun! We have the homecoming football game at the high school where we work, then Phil's birthday is on Sunday (date night!), and we have Monday off and an October Birthday Party for my side of the family to attend.
Throw in five soccer games, two soccer practices, a basketball practice, a friend's baby to visit, and some home renovating/decorating and it's a great balance of fun and busy.

I was shopping online at Kohl's and needed a little something more in my cart to qualify for free shipping. So I searched through the jewelry section and found this necklace, and it's really cute! You can always get everything at Kohl's at a discount, just by searching for online promo codes. Sometimes it seems like they almost have to pay me to shop, the deals are so good. And if they actually wanted to pay me/compensate me to shop their, I wouldn't say no :)
5)
Are your kids also obsessed with dancing to this song? I can't blame them, it is so catchy...we bop around the kitchen to it all the time! I'm still working on my stanky leg ;)

Would anyone want this shirt?
I had ordered an extra in Size Large a while back, and it's just sitting in my closet. Leave me a comment if you do, if there's more than one entry, we'll pull a name from a hat.

Kelly is hosting a Link-toberfest giveaway, and this week's entry is to count how many times you've participated in 7 Quick Takes. Oh geesh, I'm an accountant so I hope this is an accurate count...

Have a wonderful looooong weekend everybody!
Love your blog....long time lurker, first time commenter. :-) I'm only a mom to half as many kids as you are, but I am a runner....or try to be anyway (that triple jogger is a beast to push) and I'd love that shirt!!

DeleteYou and Theresa have inspired me to start THM - I just bought the book last night and I'm stoked to get it! And I'm amazed you lost 3 pounds in 3 days - that's so great!! (But seriously, men can just lose pounds by thinking about it, I swear!)
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for your long run! I can't wait to do that again. (I totally added the day 11 comment for you!:)
ReplyDeleteIf 4 kids counts as a lot I'll take the t-shirt. Not that I've done 7 miles. I do like to do 5K's pretty slowly.
ReplyDeletePost more about THM I bought the ebook earlier this year. Started a few times but didn't commit for long. I put lean lunchmeat and pickles on the crackers with laughing cow cheese.

DeleteI caved and ordered the THM book and cookbook. I hope I can figure it out! And yes, men can lose weight at annoying rate. Although, my husband isnt able to do it as quickly as he once could.
ReplyDeleteGetting old is for the birds but I guess it beats the alternative! Have a great weekend and enjoy date night!
Oh no. You're doing THM too? Man, all these people I respect are losing all this weight! What am I going to do? :) I bought the ebook a few months ago, and I think I understand it, but some things really bothered me about it. The style, I guess? Also skipping around to recipes on Kindle is rough. Anyway, I may spring for a hard copy of the new edition and see if that works for me.
ReplyDeleteDoes running after the kids count? I wouldn't mind the T-shirt - I might start running in earnest!

Delete:D ya for large families (hubby is one of eight and i am one of nine) I have always wanted a big family...we have 2 wild boys on Earth and 5 little angels.
ReplyDeletei just started running and i really like it. i'm up to 2 miles without stopping - it doesn't sound like much, but a huge achievement for me. i'd love the shirt, but i only have 2, so I may not qualify.
