Happy Friday! Happy Feast of the Assumption!
Let's rewind to last Friday when some Martin Family members went to a Commanders v. Patriots preseason game at Gillette Stadium:
The tickets were from Andrew's friend's uncle which allowed them access to a suite and a complimentary all-you-can-eat buffet. This was Declan's first NFL game and I hope he realizes they will never be quite like this again.
Andrew, Eamon and Phil all wore their Commanders gear but Declan wore his Brady shirt, which was a good choice because it was the night that the new Tom Brady statue was unveiled...which meant that Tom Brady, the GOAT himself was there.
Very exciting for an 11 year old sports nut!
On Saturday morning, we took Declan and Brendan to swim at an outdoor Y pool. I don't love getting in the water, but I will sit on the side and throw diving toys for them to retrieve. Who's the fun mom now? Ha!
Eamon received another scholarship from an organization in our town on Saturday afternoon. It was a very lowkey backyard BBQ type of event, and they announced the two winners of the scholarship, read off their accolades and handed them each a check for $750. Pretty good day's work.

On Sunday, I woke up with conjunctivitis out of the blue and couldn't attend my friend's baby shower (number nine!!) but I got the ointment into my eye, put on some sunglasses and we headed to an outdoor restaurant with the three youngest.
They played cornhole and I sat by the water contemplating what life would be like as a seagull:
This week has been a mix of yelling at the kids to pack for college, yelling at the little kids to finish their schoolwork and trips to the beach. Balance!
We tried popping corn from a corn cob and it didn't turn out that great:
Tomatoes from my parents' garden + basil from their porch + mozzarella balls = summer in a bowl. It didn't even need anything else, so good!
Every workday this summer I have been buying an XL iced coffee for $1.06, only filling it up 3/4 of the way, and adding a bottle of Fairlife chocolate protein shake. It's a 30 grams of protein breakfast for only 150 calories and tastes delicious. Plus it cuts out the cream I used to use.
Declan got invited to play with a friend, and they swam at his grandma's house, who sent me this photo of Declan relaxing long after his friend had gotten out of the pool:
While Declan was there, Maggie took Xander and Brendan to a beach in town:
Phil made Butter Chicken for dinner, and then I got pummeled by Brendan in a game of Saint Memory:
Some of the Cottage Crew came over after closing to have a game night, and this was the remnants from their late night partying:
Heehee, what a great group of kids!
My brother's family is visiting this week from New Hampshire, so there's been lots of walks happening to the Fort and cousin hang out time.

And I know that LOTS more went on, but if there's no photographic proof, I have a very hard time remembering what we did! Oh, some of it is coming back to me now! I got a mani/pedi with a friend, Andrew had a physical with a TB test for nursing school, Xander went school shopping with friends, Maggie took a three-day camp to get college apps ready, Andrew and Eamon golfed multiple times, I went back and forth with the financial aid office to get Eamon's bill correct, and Phil and I are going to a friend's house for dinner tonight!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone, I can't believe high school fall sports start on Monday - eek!
You,are eking out every drop of summer fun! Good luck to the college bound!
ReplyDeleteMore like realizing time is up on summer! Where did it go?
DeleteMy kids would love to have been there to join in on the games evening!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun recap. So many things going on and so much fun being had by everyone. That's exciting on the timing of the football game. That adds an extra special memory to the day getting to see Tom Brady.
Everyone seems to be raving about Fairlife. I need to get in on this trend. It sounds delicious and very satisfying!
They are expensive but when I consider it's my whole breakfast, I can justify it?!?
DeleteAnother awesome week! How exciting to see a Patriots game in a suite! I always hated to get in the pool with my kids...so much splashing. I would, however, sit on the side and throw toys for them to dive after. We are kindred spirits!
ReplyDeleteTwinsies!
DeleteI can believe that you can't remember stuff unless there are photos to trigger your memories. This is so much- you have so much going on and yet you always juggle it and I imagine your house is always clean too. We dropped Reg off at school today and I keep expecting him to walk into the room. He naps a lot because of epilepsy meds and I keep thinking he's upstairs napping. I think dropping him off was on my to do list, but I don't think I've wrapped my brain around it yet. My fav pic is Declan relaxing in the pool after his friend was done. So fun. Bummer about the eye thing. I hope it got better in record time.
ReplyDeletehahahahahahahahahahaha - house is always clean - hahahahahahahaha!
DeleteI mean, being there with Tom Brady would have been super cool! Pretty spectacular week for your family! Hope your eye is fully back to normal but that you continue your drops or ointment as prescribed!
ReplyDeleteIt's sad that we raised our kids in New England while the Patriots were the most winning team ever, and they turned out to follow in their dad's footsteps and become Washington fans.
DeleteThis all looks very fun! Envious of the casual beach days...that looks so relaxing and fun. And how did you get that great Y pool all to yourselves? How lucky!
ReplyDeleteIt's like a secret pool that everyone forgets about! there were two women swimming laps in the lap lanes but the rest was for us.
DeleteI had to laugh about the comment about yelling at big kids, yelling at little kids, and going to the beach. Sounds like my life ;)
ReplyDeleteThe college app preparation camp is intriguing to me! Never heard of such a thing but sounds like it would be very helpful (if not the most fun type of camp).
Your Fairlife iced coffee is genius. I will have to try that sometime, although I'm pretty wedded to my hot coffee with creamer...
Not sure exactly when you're headed to Pittsburgh with John Paul but feel free to email me (katewill109 AT gmail) if you have time for a quick meetup! :)
I wish we had time Kate!! Missed opportunity for sure :(
