Starting Over

It's a new week and a new month, and I need an attitude adjustment towards my health.

Normally, I am VERY strict about exercise. And since October, I have been relatively strict about eating small portions, and making healthy food choices.

I cheat weekly on my "diet" but I never cheat on my exercise. Me and exercise, we are bff's.

But this past week, something changed. I just didn't want to exercise. We were busy, and instead of planning out my gym time, it ended up being the last thing on my to-do-list. So I ended up skipping the gym on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Then when I finally went on Sunday morning, all I did was walk on the treadmill. And if you know me, then you know I don't consider walking an exercise at all. It's an activity, not exercise, at least in my mind. Exercise to me is when you sweat like crazy, push yourself to your absolute limits, and feel sore the next day. Sounds fun, huh?

SO today, I am going to eat well and show no mercy in my kickboxing class tonight. Because it's not even about the physical feel-good effects exercise has, its the mental health makeover it brings that really keeps me coming back for more.

(But at least you can have a healthy and active life while you're still alive!!)

  1. You are such an inspiration!!

Unfortunately, I do not carry that much ambition/drive for my exercise time. I do it several times a week and if I get in 4 or 5good (at least) 30 min. slots of time carved out each week I am happy. Could I work harder? I suppose, but for now it's all about doing it for my overall good health and not about huge results. (that's not to say that I shouldn't be pushing myself to that all-out-sweating kind of routine of which you posted) I seriously don't know how you do it and maintain that great routine and determination. You go Girl! :)

  2. Hey girl! We all have those weeks! Sometimes those weeks end up being good for me because they allow me to get my priorities back into line. and sometimes I even find that I end up losing more weight the next week after I kind of slacked off. It's like it's my bodies way of telling me I need the break to get ready for the next big push! No worries- You're awesome! I so wish that I lived closer to some of my blogging buddies and we could be workout buddies!

  5. hey colleen, sometimes its good to take time off from exercise! its supposed to be enjoyable! NOT a source of stress. Its normal to get in a funk this time of year and maybe you are fighting a cold or something so it's making you feel sluggish. its okay to take time off. relax and rest and then pick a date to restart! good luck :-)

  6. My pilates went off track last week with all the baby teething...maybe I can do some today!

Maybe your body just needed a little break? You'll get right back into it, I'm sure.
