New Stuff

I've been alluding to the fact that my job is changing and I had some time off, and now I can finally tell you why (as if you've all been waiting on pins and needles??  Bloggers have big egos, don't ya know).

I quit my job that I hated but worked at full-time for the last 7 months!!  Woo-hoo!!

I wanted to quit this job after the first day, but kept trying to tell myself that it was just because the job was new and different,  and eventually I would adjust.  I never adjusted.  The work itself was ok, I was the Accounts Receivable Manager at a boarding school, responsible for $15 million in tuition and all other student fees, loans, and financial mumbo jumbo.  I never got adequate training, as the former employee and I only had one day together, so I was constantly wasting time trying to figure out what I was supposed to do, and then how to actually do it.  The hours were 8 to 5 with an hour lunch break (that I would have loved to skip) and the commute was an hour each way.  So I would drop the kids off at school at 7am and not arrive home until 6pm.  It was waaaaaay too long to be away from them.  Plus, my boss was less than nice.

But while I was suffering working, an opportunity arose at the Catholic High School where Phil teaches.  Their Business Manager was retiring after 30 years on the job, and they wanted to know if I was interested in the position.  This was seriously an answered prayer!  I interviewed, got the position, gave three weeks notice, and am currently training a couple days a week until Baby Boo arrives.  Then I will have time off for about 8 weeks and start the job for real at the beginning of October.  The hours will be 7:30 to 3:30 and my commute will be about 7 minutes :)

I am so excited.  It will be a big job, but God has been pointing me towards this position for a few years now (hindsight is 20/20, right?).  Even though I was in public accounting, one of my clients was a school.  Then my kid's school needed a bookkeeper (work I could do at home)  which I have been doing for the past 5 years.  Last year, I got the job at the boarding school, and it seemed my accounting positions in school systems was being hand-picked by God.  Add to it that this position at our Catholic High School hasn't been open for 30 years, and the woman retiring graciously agreed to stay on past her retirement date to allow me to have maternity leave, and you have a perfect gift from God!

Getting this job is just one of many times in our lives that Phil and I can look back and see how amazingly God has taken care of us.  It's so amazing, it almost scary :)

Other than that, Baby and I am growing by inches every day:

32 Weeks - 22.8 pounds gained (and sweaty from walking 6 miles)

The kids are counting down the days until summer.  Eamon and Maggie have one more day of preschool, Andrew has three more days of Kindergarten, and John-Paul has 9 more days of 2nd Grade.  Then it's beach time for us until Baby pops out!  Phil will be working maintenance-type work at the high school this summer to compensate for my lack of work for a while.  What a good guy.  Please excuse the infrequency of blogging - I'm really enjoying my time at home and with the kids in the afternoons (soon to be all day!).

You look great, and it's really not too much longer now --although that's easier for me to say since my bun is out of the oven. ;)

I am so jealous of your weight gain. I have some SERIOUS work to do after the baby is born . . . 40 pounds. 40! I'm ashamed.

  16. Finally stopping back to leave a comment. I've been having some troubles, so I hope this one works here :)

Congrats on the new job!! Hooray! Sounds like God definitely had his hand working everything out, even if you did have to stay at a less-than-ideal job for a bit before this one came along. So excited for you and your family! It sounds like the ideal situation.

Looking good yet mama! So eager for Baby Boo's arrival...only 52 more days??!! Yikes.

Still would like to hear what you did end up doing that week that you were going to have 'free' time and you were polling us on what you should do. Share if you dare!
