Playing with Cari and the more admirable photographers for Theme Thursday.
In my dream world, I live in a clutter free house.
In reality, I have piles of junk everywhere.
I didn't even have to stage these photos, I just walked around the house after the kids went to bed last night and took some poor quality phone snapshots. Here's what I came up with:
Piles of laundry on the floor:
Thankfully no unmentionables were showing. |
Piles of mail on the couch:
It's like they know I have kids. |
Piles of fruit in a makeshift fruit bowl:
Those bananas have a good 3 more days to ripen before I like them. |
Piles of toys (but mostly contained to one room):
The toy room, also known as Phil's Personal Purgatory |
But one of my favorite piles only happens once a year when Phil and the kids go outside and rake the leaves into a big pile.
And the reward for all that hard work:
And the reward for all that hard work:
Actually, the reward was $1.00. Child labor don't come cheap no more. |
Bonus points: I made sure they all had red in it! Because I'm still the teacher's pet :)
Hahaha! Every shot DOES have red in it- that's hilarious.
ReplyDeleteHow can you keep bananas around long enough to get ripe like that? As soon as I bring them into the house, my kids have eaten all of them, EVEN IF THEY'RE GREEN!
I know. They're grosser than gross.
Yay! I love the leaf pile the best, but they are all great. Nice work on the red, too!
ReplyDeleteYou don't have a dog, do you? 'Cause if you did, I am quite sure that laundry would be strewn all over the house, instead of in that nice neat pile there... : )
ReplyDeleteI have to try to do this today! Love that leaf shot and his arms!! And you're totally teacher's pet.
ReplyDeleteSo jealous of the leaf pile! Excellent in air shot! And my husband hates, hates, hates the toys too. I don't get it. I think when he was a boy he "played" by organizing all his stuff.
ReplyDeleteIt's great the toys have their own "home" (a goal around here).
ReplyDeleteCapturing that brave yet joyful leaf jump is my favorite.
Every week I swear I'm going to join in, but every week something happens and Thursday is here and I forget. Slacker. I ain't no teacher's pet, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteWhat great piles! I totally could've done this one since I went through a bunch and had piles of randoms that I tossed yesterday in an effort to declutter.
What a yummy looking fruit bowl. My bananas never make it that far and I def prefer them just perfectly yellow and few brown spots. If my kids don't eat them all first.
These are all great shots! I really need to get off my rear and join this link up party.
ReplyDeleteGreat leaf pile photo!! It makes me want to go jump in a pile of leaves right now! (Too bad it is icy-snowy-rainy outside, LOL!)
ReplyDeleteWow, do those shots look familiar! We're a bunch of pilers over here, too!
ReplyDeleteLeaf piles are seriously one of the best parts of fall!!
ReplyDeleteI'm an ocd organizer and piles drive me nuts. It probably drives Dev nuts sometimes because I can't have stacks of papers or anything for longer than a day. I HAVE to sort it or toss it out. Haha. I need to just let things go more often though. Chill out a bit.
OH, gosh this would be an easy one for me...might have to link up for this one!
ReplyDeleteLove the realness you have with us. I dropped my oldest daughter off at a new friends house yesterday (a girl she got to know through the play she was in) and her home was, so beautiful. There was a place for everything. There were not sleds and shovels and sticks in the snow all over the yard, there were no toys in the entry way... I just know we live here. Really live here. And there's piles.
Wait. How did you get into my house???
ReplyDeleteteachers pet!! You win! Nice pics, but I agree with Bridget the mail pile makes me nuts!!But I'll step over the laundry pile 10x before I move it...
ReplyDeleteHa! I LOVE the leaf pile picture!! And yes- your house is my house is your house. We will never escape it either. One day, you will have more grandchildren than you know what to do with and all the toys etc will still be there :)
ReplyDeleteLove the leaf pile!!
ReplyDeleteBananas don't last 3 days in our house either. I buy 3 bunches of bananas every Saturday or Sunday and they are always GONE by Mon. or Tues. We are banana fiends, I tell you.
Leaf piles, genius! The action shot is the best.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for fresh leaf piles! Ours is turning into compost now, don't think I'm going to let the kids jump in it...
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny! I'm so glad you shared your piles...makes me feel better about my own. Desk piles...dirty laundry piles...to be "shredded" piles...little toys I picked up b/c I stepped on them piles...
ReplyDelete...you get it, I know!
Leaf piles the best shot ever!!
ReplyDeleteHi there! I stopped in from Billie Jo's post. I could add the piles of cheerios and gold fish crackers that are swept into a pile on the kitchen floor :)
ReplyDeleteIn my house, those bananas would already be in the "too ripe, use for bread" pile lol. That toy room is an awesome idea!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome!
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't know/do this linky, but it's like you did it for me, without the effort! Our laundry looks exactly like yours! Mail? Um, same catalog. Overflowing fruit pile cushioned with dish towel? Twinsies. Your purgatory is neater than ours.
And jumping boy negating his own hard work? Yup, we've got that in spades.
The first 4 photos look like my house right now, only yours is nicer. But the last photo rocks! :-)
ReplyDeletegreat shots of the piles. I have many piles around my house and it is just me, hubby and the dog!
ReplyDeleteLove that they all have red and the leaf shot is just amazing!
