Sunrise, Sunset

As a girl, I wanted to have the song "Sunrise, Sunset" from Fiddler on the Roof as my wedding song.

Why?

I was a strange little girl, and for some reason that song moved me.

So when Cari asked for Sky photos for her Theme Thursday, I just had to present you with:

Sunrise:
Taken one morning when a restless baby had me up way too early.  I was feeling all sorry for myself and then I saw this masterpiece that I otherwise would have missed.

and

Sunset:
Taken on an afternoon walk, while solving all the world's problems in my head.

It's like God paints the sky for us every morning and night.  Beautiful!

  1. Love sunrises and sunsets! Watching the growing light is truly one of the few good things about being up pre-dawn.

  3. I love that song so much, I DID have it at my wedding! It was the father-daughter dance with my dad (duh, right?) who loves that song as much as I do.

I love that sunrise pic! I'm such a sucker for a good sunrise!

  5. your sunrise looks almost exactly like mine!

Had a dream about you and your family last night.
We were all hanging like ol'friends and it was time to take pictures. I was taking pictures of your family with your camera and I hit the wrong button the the back opened up to expose the film (ya know the old kind???) and it wrecked all your pictures. I was so embarrassed!! Then we went to your kids swimming lessons.

  7. I miss sunsets. Living in the flatland, surrounded by tall trees and buildings, it's really hard to see them around here.

  9. I saw "Fiddler on the Roof" on Broadway when I was 11 (an aunt took my older brother and me). Although I was a little too young to fully understand the story, I LOVED the music and played the soundtrack album over, and over, and over...

And my son was thinking about having "Sunrise, Sunset" for the mother/son dance at his wedding--but I thought it might be a bit too melancholy! (We chose something else.)

"God paints the sky for us every morning and night"--what a perfect way to put it.

  10. A priest friend of mine told us a story about his atheist brother, with whom he was watching the sun set.

"So beautiful! It's like someone painted it." said the atheist.

    "Someone did..." said the priest.

    Beautiful!
