7 Quick Takes and a GIVEAWAY!

Woot woot, it's Friday!!!!  Let's get started with Jen and her Quick Takes:

1)

I'm still in the thick thin of the  postpartum going bald hair drama.  I've been researching what can help, and one of the things is to eat gelatin.  But I hate Jello.  So I went shopping and found Knox unflavored gelatin, and there's a recipe on the box for how to make imitation Jigglers using juice and the unflavored gelatin.  It's super easy and I feel better knowing I'm putting 100% juice in our bellies instead of sugar and artificial flavoring and coloring.
(I realize you probably ALL already knew you could do this, but it's new to me!)

2)

From my Instagram feed this week (sorry if you've already seen it):

Did I ever tell you about my first college Mass at FUS when I just about melted into the chapel floor as I looked around at all the cool college guys with their scapular sticking out of their shirts? After years of hearing to "wait for a good guy" and not being able to find one in high school, it was like Catholic Utopia. Now...years later, I am a mom raising (what I hope to be) a bunch of the good guys. I caught John-Paul like this yesterday and my heart soared.

3)

I've scheduled professional photos for the kids for later this month.  We alternate between buying school photos and getting them done at a studio, and because the baby will probably be hard to capture, we are going with the studio this time.  Plus I got an amazing deal on Groupon for a photo CD that I can then order prints from.  Cheapy McCheaperson here, and proud of it.

Everybody look and smile!  #nailedit
4)

We have a new Bishop!  And that priest on the left is Maggie's godfather who teaches at St. John's Seminary and worked in the Bishop's office all summer to help prepare for the new Bishop's arrival.

Have you guys read Angel in the Waters by Regina Doman?  She's a fellow Steubie grad and this year marks the 10th anniversary of her best selling book, so Sophia Press Institute released a hardcover edition and sent us one!

I used to read him this book when he was a baby, and now he's able to read it to the baby.  Sniff, sniff.
7)

This book is an awesome pro-life book and teaches kids about the importance of the Guardian Angel.  Since yesterday was the Feast of the Guardian Angel, let's have a giveaway!  One lucky reader will receive a 10th Anniversary Hardcover Edition of Angel in the Waters!

  2. #1 You can also add the unflavored gelatin to smoothies as additional protein. Just in case you want to have some without the effort of jigglers. (Not that they're hard but they take time to set.)

  3. #7 If I won, I would keep it for our house. I imagine being nine days away from my due date it's the exact right time for the book for the toddler. Or the exact wrong time. Looks like a beautiful book.

  7. Ugh on the hair loss! I'm in the same boat and next week this time will be in the chair having several inches hacked off. I'm contemplating another full on bob but I don't think I have the nerve for that drastic measure just yet.

And I loathe Jello - even my kids hate it!
