7 QT with Too Many Cats

1)

Declan may not be able to crawl on his hands and knees, but he can talk.  I know, you’re probably eye-rolling the bejeezus out of me right now.  “Sure Colleen, your 9 month old talks and my 11 month old is a concert pianist.”  But he does!  He says "Mama" for me whenever I come home from work and he wants me to pick him up.  And when I have him in my arms, he stops.  Then, whenever he sees our cat, and we say “Where’s the cat?  See the cat?” he makes a very clear “t” sound like the end of the word “cat”.  The proof is in the pudding:

Am I crazy?

Don’t answer that.

2)

I went to the chiropractor this week, and he tortured me so.

I was pretty loud during all the manipulations, and he told me I would have to come back in the morning so I wouldn’t scare away his other patients!  It hurt so bad and yet so good!  He basically kneaded my glutes and stretched out my hammies and cracked my hips.

Modesty kinda goes out the window when a man you just met is massging your behind for 10 minutes.  He taught me a stretch I have to do everyday to help loosen up my leg muscles and thinks my pelvis is out of alignment which is why my right hip/lower back is always bothering me.  Six kids and my pelvis is out of whack, shocker!

3)

I also went for an eye exam to a new eye doctor, and she was shocked that I’m 35 and have never had my eyes dilated.  I told her I thought it was for old people and she laughed and then made me an appointment to go back in a couple weeks to get it done.  Have you all had your eyes dilated yet?  Is it scary?

4)

There are two songs being played repeatedly on the radio right now that make me super mad.  Why? Because I feel like I would really love the songs by their tune, but when I listen to the words, they are so bad!  Aghhh!

Stupid Song 1

Stupid Song 2

I just don't love Christian music, and I need to listen to upbeat  pop music when I exercise, so what's a girl to do?

Can I insert an unrelated funny video here?  My kids are so into this right now...

5)

Jenny wrote a great piece about being in debt and being open to life.  Check it out, there's a strong connection between the two and it's sad.

6)

The Patriots are in the playoffs this weekend!!!  Sorry to one of my bestest friends, Sarah, but I hope this is what happens:

7)

And tonight is Girl's Night Out with my bookclub!  I'm so excited, not only for the good conversation and friendships but also for the chance to pig out!  I've been soooo hungry lately and with no pregnancy or breastfeeding excuse.

Have a great playoff watching, Patriots cheering, comfort food eating kind of weekend!

  1. I've been so hungry too, with no good excuses! The best I can come up with is that my metabolism has gone up to keep me warm in the frigid weather. Enjoy tonight's snacks :)

  2. You've seriously never had your eyes dilated? I am 28 and have had it done every 2 years for a long time. It's just drops. Basically everything is fine except you have to wear sunglasses and you can't read for a while. Though the last time there was some new fangled machine that did the same thing without dilation and even though insurance didn't cover it I consider it $40 well spent that day.

    1. You;re as shocked as my eye doctor! She said if it the test was normal, I would only have to do it every 5 years.

  3. I've never had my eyes dilated either. I get very creeped out when it comes to eye stuff. I can't even watch my hub put in his contacts. Lucky for me, I have the pregnancy excuse to always be hungry. Not lucky that all I want is chocolate and salted carmel. =)

  5. I've had my eyes dilated before. It's not painful or anything and you can drive afterwards, but you do need to wear sunglasses and you can't read for a few hours...which is really disconcerting. I was freaked out at first by that.

  6. I *TOTALLY* understand the need for catchy music for exercise. Try this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nbnHlfvR7k It is a Christian band, and you can tell that by the lyrics (especially around 2:18), but it's super catchy and really motivating. Hope that helps replace at least one of those stupid songs!

    1. Okay, not to keep thrusting music on you or anything (but I'm about to anyway, LOL!), but I heard this one on the radio last night and love, love, love it and thought you might also! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXT7XYc0d7M Besides, any song that refers to Jesus as the "Hip Hop Hero" just screams awesome-ness! 7. I'm 34 and never had my eyes dilated. And my brother in law is an optometrist. If he's not concerned, I'm not concerned.

    1. Yes, but embarrassingly to admit, my itunes is more like that of a teenage girl.

  9. Colleen-I think you've motivated me to go to the chiropractor-I think it's number six that does that lower back/hip pain thing. I feel like my back is permanently swayed inward and it hurts like heck at 3 a.m. every morning.
