It's All the Little Things

I love Valentine's Day.  Because I love love.  And I love me some Phil.

I don't just love him because he is a brilliant and handsome hunka hunka burning love.  That would be too obvious.  I love him for all the little things.

How he smiles at me like I truly am the most gorgeous woman he's ever laid eyes on.

How he loves our faith so much that it's his favorite subject to talk about and he's so passionate about it that he actually inspires his high school students to believe.

How he's up for any sport...to play...or teach our children...or watch.  There is nothing cuter than watching him run football plays with the boys out in the backyard.

How he always lets me walk up in front of him to receive the Eucharist at Mass.

How he is involved in so many things without any recognition - talking at retreats, running a Professional day for the Catholic elementary schools, getting interviewed by our Diocesan newspaper, being asked to speak at a woman's group, and being invited to join the Adult Education team at our parish.  His reward will come in the next life, I'm sure ;)

How he gets up in the middle of the night to check on the child who is sick or has had a bad dream because he knows I am scared of the dark.

How he is my car starter on the frosty cold mornings, my water cup filler when we watch tv at night, and my dishwasher after I've cooked a meal.

How he encourages us to pray together as a family, go to Confession, and attend daily Mass when possible.

How he runs out to get me a caramel sundae from McDonald's because I have a craving, and gets one for himself too, so I'm not the only one getting fat :)

How when I came in from a run the other day, panting and trying to explain that I promised a woman in a wheelchair that he would take her to her house, he didn't bat an eye, and just ran outside and pushed her half a mile down the street.  Then gave her his number in case she needed anything else.

Happy Valentine's Day to my forever Valentine.

As our kids would say...I love you to infinity!
