Wow, I haven't written anything since last Friday! I guess that's what two back-to-back days of dressing up 7 kids will do to a mom. Here's what's been going on in our neck of the woods...
1)
Soccer season is *almost* over. Maggie and Declan finished their season last Saturday. I would tell you how their teams placed, if their teams kept score during games. I mean why would a sports game with two teams competing against one another keep score? Ugh, don't even get me started.
Eamon plays in a much more competitive league, and his team is in Number One in his division, and heading into playoffs on Sunday. JP and Andrew's high school teams are finished, Varsity went to playoffs for States this year but lost in the first game.
Oh, and basketball practices began three weeks ago.
Of course they did.
2)
My little Kindergarten lovie lost his first tooth! The adult tooth was practically grown in behind it before it was loose enough for me to pull it out (my favorite mom job!)
Phil reminded me that once they start losing their teeth, they look extremely grown up, so now I just want him to keep the rest of his baby teeth, mmkay?
3)
My Dad and Phil went outside this weekend to cut down a tree that was growing crazy and blocking a path around our house. My dad took out his forty year old chainsaw and he and Phil tied a rope to the tree and began trying to cut it down. I heard them complaining that the chainsaw was "loose" and "not sharp" as they were struggling for awhile.
Next thing we know, our neighbor, who is a firefighter and a tree guy, comes over with his $700 one-handed chainsaw and cuts down said tree in a minute, then cuts down some more surrounding ones that needed it as well. Boom. I love this photo of him walking away (while my Dad and Phil are looking at their watches like "Dang, that was quick!")
Like the Bible says, Love Your Neighbor. We sure do :)
4)
Phil and I got dressed to go on a run (separately) and when we met up outside, it was embarrassing to realize we were shirt twinning...
But we're both too stubborn to change, so off we went.
In related couple workout news, Phil came to one of my classes at the gym this week and when it was over, I asked how he liked it, and he said "I was just trying to keep up with you!" which might have been the sweeeeetest thing he's ever said to me ;)
5)
We were supposed to go see the John Crist show this weekend, but then found out it was cancelled for really bad and sad reasons. We thought we had finally found a funny, clean, good comedian.
6)
These fleece pajamas are now my favorite, thanks.
You can get them at Costco, but if you don't have an account there, they're available on amazon right here.
7)
My parish's women's group started a book club on this book this week. I'll let you know how I like it. Book clubs make me feel a little awkward since I don't like "sharing" and I don't like "people". Haha! I do it to try and step out of my comfort zone and grow and meet new people.
And that is a fleece pajama kind of wrap!
Have a wonderful, chilly (it's in the thirties today!), long weekend everybody!
Your neighbors chainsaw looks like ours!! We do A LOT of tree cutting/trimming here in the pacific northwest!! We think Jim Gaffigan is pretty funny and clean.
ReplyDeleteYes, we are big Gaffigan fans too! I meant to say a *new* comedian. Your chainsaw is awesome :)
