Happy Friday before Black Friday! This weekend we will be happily preparing to welcome back home some college boys, which will require a room clean/switch up since the little boys have taken over the big boys room while they have been away. I can't blame them because it is a much nicer room, but I do find it funny that instead of splitting up into into two bedrooms, they all wanted to move together to the big bedroom.
While we were frolicking in Quebec last weekend, Eamon went with a group of friends to try and get on the Pat McAfee show before the Pitt v. Notre Dame game.
The kid kicking missed his chance to win $100,000 but somehow (?) Eamon's group go the check and went all over taking photos with it (?)
They were only planning to go to the show and try to get on tv, but one of his friend's dad bought everyone a ticket to the game...how nice! Go Notre Dame!
Maggie played the role of mom while we were gone and took the kids to a trampoline park, out to lunch, to Mass, basketball practice, the library, and to pick out one salty and one sweet treat from the store before having movie night. The kids had a ball and we are so grateful for her.
Maggie and other Maggie went to the Jonas Brothers concert last night, and said it was really good. I think one of the Maggies has a crush on Nick Jonas, but I won't say which one ;)
The high school had their Thanksgiving food drive this week:

This is a big reason why I love Catholic schools, there's always an opportunity to help and serve others. From food drives to clothing collections, even a dress down day today where the proceeds are going to help a school family facing a new medical diagnosis. These kids learn how to make a difference through actions and prayers.
Speaking of prayers, my little nephew, Ollie, had another abdominal surgery this week, which went well, but the recovery is going to be long and difficult so any prayers are much appreciated!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend filled with happy preparations for Thanksgiving. Don't forget to dig out your maternity pants!

Busy as ever!
ReplyDeleteOur kids' school went to money only collection for the Thanksgiving food drive. The local pantry requested it as they can buy more food for the same amount of cash. Not nearly as fun as building huge towers of peanut butter and canned corn in the school entryway, though.
Is Ollie the one who was born with an abdominal issue? I think you linked to that a long time ago (or a short time ago? Time is so weird when you get older). Prayers for such a cute little dude!
Oh we still do all the food here, though the cash makes more sense if they can buy in bulk and get more for their buck! Yes, Ollie was born with gastroschisis (I added the link to when he was born) and this is his second big surgery that they've known has been needed for a long time. Poor guy has to stay still for 6-8 weeks which will be very hard for an active 5 year old boy (as you know)!
