Bug Bites, Dwija Donations, Slenderizing Swimsuits, and Mystery Mondays

My poor husband got stung or bit by something yesterday when we were at a friend's pool, so his handsome face which normally looks like this:

now looks like this:
Got Benedryl?
He took two doses of benedryl last night and some Claritin this morning, but it's not helping so he'll be calling the doctor today.  Poor guy.  The funny thing is that the kids didn't even notice until around 7 am this morning when Andrew told him his eye looked weird.

Cari is being an awesome Christian and amazing friend and raising money for Dwija's basement/laundry horrors.  Because with all that's going on with her sweet unborn baby, she should not have to worry about the laundry.

You can donate over here.  Also, Katrina who sponsored my hair clips giveaway, is going to have a party where all proceeds will benefit Dwija's laundry fiasco, and you can go here to help!  So many good people!!

A different Katrina pointed me in the direction of a miracle swimsuit that was only $25 from WalMart.  I had to try it!  It came and it actually is flattering, and I got some compliments on it from people who aren't my husband or children, which are the only kind of compliments that count ;)  I even have a picture proof of it's amazing capabilities, but I'm too shy to post it here, you can see it over here.

Anne's Mystery Monday Ingredient this week was jalapenos, and since I won't be cooking with those anytime soon after the burning eye episode, I thought I would just point you towards a different kind of pepper recipe I make a lot.  Is that cheating?  I think yes, but go see what the better chefs have created!

  1. That.swimsuit. Seriously I think I will be going immediately after work today. I think I've seen 10 different people recommend it now!!! I was just going to wear my maternity swimsuit from last year but it turns out that it is shockingly a little too big on me. At the same time, I rarely wear a swimsuit so I don't feel bad paying $25 for one! Yay!

    1. I hope they have it in stores! I ordered mine online, and it came really fast. It hides a mummy tummy like no other!!

  2. I'm heading over to Walmart to check out that swimsuit. You do look GREAT in it! (But it looks to me like you don't really need a miracle suit to achieve that status!...And perhaps I should start running!)

I enjoy your blog so much--it's like a little ray of sunshine.

  3. My face looked exactly like that when I was bit by a spider once. The swelling did go down after a day or two.

I love that swimsuit. I have something very similar from wal-mart, that I love and it is very flattering. It is the same halter-top cut, but is a tankini instead of a one-piece and I wear it with a swim skirt from lands end.

    1. I do wish this was a two piece (for bathroom runs) but the little "flap" in front actually hides enough that I feel comfortable in it.

  4. I'm a serial commenter today. But I wanted to add that as an allergy sufferer whose face once puffed up so badly that a friend didn't recognize me at the grocery store (where I was going to pick up my prescription of prednisone!), I really feel your husband's pain!

  7. Um. Shut up about that suit! I love it! You look great and I don't think it's weird at all if I go get one in the same color so we can be twins, right?

Hope Phil feels better soon. Poor guy. Oh! Did you ask him if his face hurts? And when he said, "Yes", did you say, "Hurts me, too!" har har har.

No. You probably didn't say that to him, because you're a kind wife and I'm a horrible person.

    1. Ask him how many times I looked at him last night and flinched because I kept forgetting who he was. So scary! Yes on the swimsuit twinsies!

  8. Poor Phil! So glad the doctor is helping him out. That suit is adorable, does it come in maternity sizes? As for cheating with the mystery ingredient, we're Irish too, and terrible at playing by the rules, so when we made this link up, we made it no rules!

    1. This is THE suit you want postpartum! After 5 kids, it makes it look like I've only had maybe two ;)

  11. Oh his poor face!!!! I hope the doctor figures it out.

I like that swimsuit, but I think it would be less than flattering on my thunder thighs with where the fabric ends lol. Looks great on you, though!

  13. Your poor husband! I hope he gets some relief soon.

And you do NOT need a miracle swim suit! You have a great figure!

  19. I just got that same swimsuit except red with white polka dots! I was a little worried that it would look too "oldlady" since I'm only 26 but I also think it is very cute. And it sure does hold in my I-had-6-kids tummy!
