Weekend Tales

Cliche time: I can't believe how fast Advent is going!

Real Time: What we've been up to...

Last week I was a bit under the weather, just exhausted and had a virus and the world's biggest coldsore, and so I got to stay home one day and cuddle in bed with the kitty.  She seriously sleeps all day.  Is it depression?  I'm just jealous.

That's the last time I'll be napping in that bed because we're getting our new bed delivered tomorrow!  Thanks to your suggestions, we were able to narrow down where we looked, and based on the advice of two local friends, we went to a family owned store about a mile from our house and got a great deal.  Our KING mattress and boxspring comes tomorrow, and our beautiful solid wood headboard/footboard will come in about 8 weeks from a little company in Maine that chops down the trees to make your bed when they receive your order.  (At least that's what the bed store owner told us).  It's so gorgeous, I can't wait to show you all when we get it.  Merry Christmas to meeeeeeee :)

Speaking of me (narcissistic much? oui, oui) here's the 26 week bump.  Large and in charge.  I'm already at that point where you look down and think "How the heck is THAT coming out of THERE?"  Miraculous, indeed.

Tunic: Old Navy Maternity
Leggings: Old Navy Maternity
Uggs: Lost & Found

Snowy days lead to crafty play time, and if you have a mom who hates arts and crafts, the best you get is playdough and perler beads.
Xander: I bangin'.

Cousin Bridget came to play.

On Sunday, we went to the kid's Christmas Pageant.  It was beautiful as always, great singing, a handbell choir, and they act out the Nativity story while the music plays.

Maggie was a Child of the World, with all the other Kindergartners (and preschoolers).

Here she is with one of her bestest friends, Madison.

Eamon (in the middle) was a shepherd, and got to carry a staff!

Andrew (on right) was also a shepherd, so handsome.
Bad photo, but Baby Jesus is always a REAL baby, and this one was awesome.  Slept through the whole thing!
The most exciting part of our weekend though, was that our babysitter came home from college!!  I shouldn't call her our babysitter, she's like a daughter to Phil and I, and a big sister to my kids.

When the pageant ended, nobody was sure whether to clap or not because they had asked us to hold our applause until the end.  But Xander was standing up on my barely-there-lap and started clapping and soon, the whole congregation joined in.  What a rock star!

And then we went home to watch the Patriots barely lose.  Boo.  Ah well, at least we were able to console ourselves with a pot roast that had been cooking all day, and some delicious garlic mashed potatoes that Phil whipped up.  I even made some peppermint cookies that were pink for Gaudete Sunday.

(Fine, they came from a roll of dough.)

(And yes, I ate some of that dough pre-baked.)

Leaving before I spill any more secrets.

  4. Awwww.... the pageant. Many many memories.

Maggie looks BEAUTIFUL. I LOVE that outfit. Ok, if you have a boy, save that one for us! (We'll give it back when you have another girl).

Haley better visit soon. We're having withdrawal.

You look beautiful. Ava thought it was me. "Look there's Mommy!" What a compliment!!!

Can't wait to see your bed. Glad you got a good deal. We've gotten two smaller ones there and they're passionate about they're beds, but not pretentious.

I just ate some more gingerbread cookie dough (we're giving it another go as the other cookies went so fast), so our babies will have the same "whatever happens when you eat raw dough" problem. ;)

  6. Great pictures! And play dough and Perler beads are it for me too! Luckily Peter never cared for crafts (that's my boy!) and Sarah will now keep herself entertained for a long time with some paints and canvas. So there's not much for me to have to do!

Perhaps you and Phil can have a date night before the sitter goes back to college?!

  10. Your church is so beautiful! And I love Perler beads. Small, time consuming, easy to stack the end result. Perfect.
