Happy Feast of the Immaculate Conception!!
Today we remember when Mary was conceived without sin in her mother (St. Ann)'s womb:
And in nine months we celebrate Mary's birthday, on September 8th.
Today is not the day when Mary conceived Jesus...that happens nine months before his birthday (Christmas), which is on March 25th, known as the Annunciation.
So, CCD teachers everywhere...Get it? Got it? Good!
We have this same review every year with the kids! They seem to be pretty solid on it, but they still want to know why the reading for Mass is the Annunciation, lol!
ReplyDeletePS: in case anyone besides my kids is wondering about the reading, the Annunciation is where Gabriel greets Mary, "Hail, full of grace." She is full of grace because she was conceived without the stain of original sin. Only a woman full of grace - without original sin - could be the one to carry Jesus in her womb. Just a little extra CCD from Aimee. :)
This Catholic moment brought to you by Colleen.... :)
