Baby Boo Guesses

After work today I get to go to my midwife and get my gestational diabetes test done.  To say I am nervous would be a huge understatement.  I don't care about the blood draw - I give blood as much as I can when I'm not preggers, but I'm nervous that I'll have gestational diabetes.  I failed the test with Andrew, but then passed the 4 hour test.  With Maggie, I failed the first test, and was one point off from failing each of the four-hour tests.  My midwife said we should treat it as though I had gestational diabetes, and try to control it through diet alone.  I did VERY well with my diet, and ended up not needing to be on insulin.  I only gained 20 pounds total with her pregnancy because of my healthy eating.  That was a nice perk :)  We'll see how it goes this time around...

Anyway, I want to start taking guesses for Baby Boo's arrival!  Our official due date is July 31st, but I have never reached my due date before.  I've been between 5 and 10 days early (naturally) and John-Paul was induced 5 weeks early.  The baby weights in the past were 6 lbs 5 oz (that was the preterm babe), 8 lbs 4 oz, 7 lbs 3 oz, 7 lbs 6 oz.  For the past two months, I have been measuring 3 weeks ahead, if you want to take my hugeness into consideration.  And we all think it's a boy, but you're welcome to guess girl too!  So go ahead and leave a guess (due date, weight, gender) in the comments, and you just might win yourself a little somethin' somethin' :)

Good luck!

  1. Having Type 1 diabetes, and gone through 5 pregnancies, I know some things.:) With Gestational, they would tell you no fruit in the morning, and add protein. After breakfast, it is fine to have fruit for like a morning snack or any other time of the day, just not in the morning. It has to do with hormones and what fruit does to the blood sugar in the mornings, it spikes it. (when pregnant) funny huh?

This is a hard thing when you have nausia and fruit smoothies are perfect for breakfast!!

Anyway, you probably already know all this, but this advice has helped a few friends of mine who usually did get gestational diabetes and then didn't after doing this.

It's the same thing they tell Type II diabetics too. (to watch by diet only)

You are almost to the end!! Right? Summer is almost here and then it always goes fast! I always measure 2-3 weeks ahead and it makes for a miserable pregnancy, hope you are doing ok?

    My guesses:

    July 12 (my daughter's b-day)
    Boy!
    8 lb 1 oz

Against all odds, I'm still guessing GIRL (Maggie needs a sister after all), arrival date of July 26th, the feast of St. Joachim & Anne. And weight of 7 lbs. 9 oz.

Good luck with your gestational testing today. I'll be prayin'!

  4. Ooo I love guessing! But I'm horrible at it.

  5. How ironic. I'm currently taking my glucose test right now. I scored 146 on the one hour last week, (and I was supposed to be 140 or under, and some say 130) so I'm taking the 3 hour. Thankfully, my hospital doesn't do the 3 hour anymore, so I only have 2 hours (one hour to go).

I'm so glad that Jamie Jo posted that info b/c I've been trying to find some info on things that can help, changing my diet, etc.

We're so close together. I am 27 weeks, 2 days. My due date is August 9 and I KNOW I will not make it that far. And I'm huge. Just my belly is huge. And they said I was measuring larger. Saylor came early last time. Well, my doctor induced me 10 days early, so I know he'll take me early. My mom is guessing July 16 for me.

    I say for you:

Girl (I have girl on the brain)
    July 14
    7 lb 4 oz

  6. I'm praying that you pass with flying colors! It would be nice if you had one less thing to worry about.

    As for guesses . . . hmmm . . .

I guess I'll go with boy {you can have four boys and I'll have the four girls}. July 18, 7lbs. 9 oz.

I'm kind of hoping I go early. {Not too early, but a couple weeks would be great!} I am huge, uncomfortable, and I'm anxious to meet her!

  7. Oh Colleen, I hope your test goes well today. I was borderline with LoLo and then controlled it with diet.
I am going to guess July 13th cause that is my Lo's birthday. She was due on the 21st but was early. The first and last time she was early for anything.
Let us know about the test!

So... here's my guess if the other one got deleted.

  17. yay! I tried to comment the first time and Blooger had its freak-out, so I couldn't. Now I'm back!

My guesses are always WRONG (unless I'm guessing about my own kids), but I'll give it my best shot.

I say Girl (because Francie is a July baby), July 26th (my niece's birthday), and since you keep insisting on your hugeness, I'll go with 8lbs 9oz (Francie's birth weight)
