Does Your Mom Cut Your Hair?

Yes, yes, she does.  Sorry buddy, but 5 boys x $10 a pop = too much money to spend on haircuts.  Clippers and some faux confidence to the rescue.

Goodbye baby, hello toddler!

  1. You did a great job! I've been cutting Dan's but Peter won't let me near his and it's just as well! I'm not very good but if I mess up, Dan has so little hair that it doesn't matter.

  2. I do the same thing...not just with the boys, but (gasp) the girls also! But, I don't take the clippers out for the girls! You're absolutely right - no more baby look with the shorter hair. He's officially a toddler now!

  3. $10? Ours are $15. And I will only take him every 2 months. So he really really needs a haircut but it's not April so... tough luck to me. Declan looks adorable. So handsome! How is it almost his birthday?

  4. He looks so cute!
And...Flynn has only had 2 trims in her life.
    Both by Steve! : )

  5. I do haircuts around here, even the trims for the girls. I have taken Lily in a couple times now as she gets older and maybe wants layers or something more difficult. Reed's hair is easy because he lacks much of it, but even better, I got him the right clipper and he does his own now. He needs to do it every couple weeks when he likes to keep it that short before it gets all scruffy looking. Jonah has now graduated from the perpetual buzz cut (easy way for mom) and insisted on 'big boy' hair. That's a bit more challenging, so we are still working out the kinks and perfecting that.
Yes, I'm cheap. What's worse, Reed's oldest brother is a barber in the bigger town near us. I could be taking the kids to him. lol.

  6. Impressive!
My son is going to be 3 in two months and never had a haircut. He doesn't really need one. Envious!

    1. Declan is definitely our youngest to need a haircut - of course our only girl was bald until 2!!

    1. Ok, well I am no way a hair stylist, but I have always cut my boys' hair and figured if I messed up, they could just get buzz cuts. I take the clippers and put on a #3 attachment and start at their neck and cut up to close to the top. Then I take a #5 and cut the whole top of their hair (we like it short) and then I take a #4 and go over the area between the two lengths so that there's no distinct "line". I hope that makes sense...I'm sure there are some good YouTube videos for how to really do it!!

  9. I usually alternate cutting my sons' hair with a trip to the cheap hair cut place in town. My teenager is now getting fussy about how his hair looks, so I'll do the back and an occasional trim, but leave a real overall cut to a pro. I have one boy with at least two cow-licks right near his bangs, so it's hard to get it to look good. I need the pro to do that part. I do trim girls' bangs for the ones with long hair, but sometimes, that $10 is worth not having the drama if I don't do it just right.
I am impressed that your son sat so nicely for the cut. Mine take until at least 4 until they will sit still for hair cuts.
