Watching, Wearing, Eating

~ Watching ~

We are currently going through a period of Not Watching much TV in casa Martin, you know trying to read more books, have prayer time, organize the house, go to bed earlier, etc.  But before that began, I finished a series and watched a movie that I wanted to recommend.

A Series of Unfortunate Events

I watched this, one episode per week, with my 13 year old and 10 year old.  We all LOVED it.  It is an interesting, funny, quirky, educational, mysterious, pleasing series to watch.  I try to pick a show where we watch one episode per week, instead of binge-watching, to teach my kids patience and how to appreciate anticipation.  We developed lots of inside jokes "Carmelita!!!" and looked forward to each episode very much.

Finding You

My mom, who is currently stuck at home with my dad to protect his health, recommended this movie to me.  It's a clean chick flick.  The story is set in Ireland and the fiddle playing and scenery are beautiful.  The plot contains many twists from romance to mystery to family values. If you like a good Hallmark movie, this one's for you.

~Wearing~

I forget where I read about these joggers, but they are the ones I keep reaching for on the weekend.  The material is thin, more like workout pants than sweatpants.  They are comfy, high waisted and have pockets!

  1. I'm always looking for appropriate movies to watch with kids - namely Curly. Both my girls play the fiddle, so this movie sounds perfect.

I didn't know they made a series of the Unfortunate Events books. Curly and Reg might enjoy that.

You have an impressive menu there, and it is planned so far in advance. Ed leaves for Budapest on Saturday, so I made one of his favorites: pot roast. I made two crockpots full, so we have one crockpot left to eat tonight. That's my answer to WHAT'S FOR DINNER? - I double stuff and then heat it up later. I own 3 crockpots. Ed just asked me why I don't have an instant pot. I was like - because I have 3 crockpots. My kitchen is big, but not THAT big.

  2. Mmmmmm pot roast! Definitely a favorite here too with lots of mashed potatoes and gravy. I feel like a simpleton with only one crockpot - ha! But I use my Instant Pot a little more, I think. Probably because I get home from work at 4:30 and need to make something fast.

  3. Oh, I used to love those Unfortunate Events books--and then I learned the author is not only an atheist but a staunch supporter of Planned Parenthood. I had the serious sads for a while. The books were quirky and fun, but my kids never got into them (I'm one of those weird adults who likes to read children's books for fun sometimes).

    1. That's too bad...I don't think the shows portrayed anything against our faith, but I'm glad I didn't know where he was coming from or I would have been watching it very differently!

  4. Thank you SO much for the movie recommendation! My husband and I watched it last night and it was just so sweet. Just looking at those scenes of Ireland would’ve been enough to make it worth watching, or listening to Seamus play his fiddle. It was thoroughly enjoyable (And best of all, no embarrassing scenes to fast-forward through!!) ❤️ ☘️

    1. Glad you liked it...a little corny...a little less than stellar acting, but comfy and cozy if you will :)
