Hellooooo on this first Friday in September! A priest friend of ours was moved back to our area (yay!) and started having a Friday evening Mass each week, and I am hoping to start going tonight (yay!)...maybe followed by a quick date with the Mr.? Sounds like a plan!
Speaking of dates, the last time we went out on one, we played Keno while we ate. I had placed our Keno ticket by the ketchup on the table, and when we left we completely forgot about the ticket. A few minutes later I remembered, so we turned around and Phil went back into the restaurant to get our ticket but the table had been cleared. He asked the manager if anyone found it, and our waitress overheard and with a look of disappointment on her face, went over to her book and took it out of the back and handed it to Phil. Only later when I went to check to see if we had won, I realized that the waitress had picked up our ticket from the table, cashed it out for the 13 games played, and got a new ticket for the seven games left. So she took our winnings of (I think) $6 and didn't even say anything when she gave Phil the new ticket back. Like, whaaaat?
Last Thursday, Maggie was playing in a volleyball game and landed wrong on her foot and fell in pain. They got her iced up and bandaged and then Phil took her to Urgent Care for an X-Ray which showed nothing was broken, just a sprain. She used crutches for a few days and then a boot for a few days, couldn't drive for a week, but is hoping to play in this weekend's game because it's feeling much better. The bruise was UGLY, but I'll spare y'all that photo.

Making sure it works |
Andrew made this with AI to hang in his room at college:

There's always room at The Cottage! |
The Cottage is only open weekends this month and we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It has been such a busy season for us, and we are grateful for all our loyal customers but it will be so nice to have a day with no work in October.

Our new fall special - Maple Creemee |
We had such a good dinner this week ~ Beef Bulgogi with Buttery Seasoned Rice and a Salad. Phil also grilled some chicken sausages in case the kids wanted more protein, which they did:
We cut up the steak into small pieces with kitchen scissors to make sure nobody chokes (such a huge fear of mine).
The college boys definitely missed out on this meal, but Eamon was travelling home with a new friend to Cleveland and sent us this photo of this McMansion:
Brendan has been begging me to take him to the bank to change his coins into bills, so I finally made it happen this week:

The bank teller asked him if he had a job, and he confidently responded "Yup. I'm a Taste Tester." |
Maggie's volleyball photos came in. I can't believe she's a Senior :(

Look at that score 🤷🏼♀️ |
Xander forgot to pack his sneakers for Cross Country one day, and had to run in his Hey Dudes:
He remembered his sneakers for the meet, which he PR'd in...something that I think will happen every meet for awhile!

His cute running face |
I took the boys out to lunch to celebrate the first week of school, to a restaurant that gives free kids meals on days after the Red Sox win:

At work, I have to do a big annual report for the state each September, so that's been (not actually) fun:
A friend offered to have the littles over to play with her kids for an afternoon, which was a very welcome reprise from the fighting and whining in my house. I used the time wisely to take another friend out for her birthday lunch.

Just walking by the beach, what a life! |
I caught Brendan taking a photo of the beautiful sunset one night:
Walking Lucy in the evenings is such a treat now that it's cool enough to do so. Did you know that walking after a meal has positive effects on our blood sugar levels? We've been trying to do it after dinner.
Andrew's friend's mom texted me this photo of her visiting our boys last weekend. Andrew and his friend think we (the moms) would be best friends, so we are trying to meet up to make that happen. And here I thought
How cute is the statue of Mary + the Corona sign in their apartment? A little bit country and a little bit rock & roll, or something.
Have a great weekend y'all!
Is Andrew living in a form or off campus? It's a o sweet they want the moms to be friends. I don't know if my kids would do that for me.
ReplyDeletePoor Xander, running in his Hey Dudes- he'll remember the sneakers now for the rest of the season, I bet!
Enjoy the weekend!
Andrew's living in an on-campus apartment called Assisi Heights. When I lived there, it was "the projects" - free housing for low income people, owned by the City. Once enough students qualified and lived there (encouraged by both the City and the college) Franciscan bought it and now it's apartments that are definitely not free.
DeleteI am here for these volleyball pictures! They're turned out so well!
ReplyDeleteOne of my kids adores spotting pretty sunsets and it always melts my heart <3
I opened the volleyball photos and gasped at how beautiful they were! Sunsets are so beautiful and I wish they turned out as well on camera. I always think that God could have just made the sky blue, but he chose to paint it twice a day for our pleasure :)
